Dan Currell

Dan Currell served as Deputy Under Secretary and Senior Advisor in the U.S. Department of Education from 2018 to 2021, where he worked on issues relating to financial aid, civil rights, and foreign influence in U.S. higher education. He is a Senior Fellow at the National Security Institute at George Mason University, where he writes about the intersection of national security and higher education, and he has written on education policy for National Affairs, The Dispatch, The New York Times, the Minnesota Star Tribune and other media outlets. Prior to joining the Department of Education, Mr. Currell was an Executive Director at the Corporate Executive Board (NYSE: CEB) where he was a management consultant to senior legal, finance and strategy executives. Dan went to Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Chicago Law School. He lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota with his family and serves on the Gustavus board of trustees.
