Kasandrea Sereno

Dr Kasandrea Sereno has worked in higher education for almost twenty years and is a strong advocate for the college experience. She is an alumna of the University of South Florida, holding a bachelors degree in business management and industrial psychology, a Master’s in Education-college student affairs and an MBA. She completed her doctorate in higher education organizational leadership & policy at Vanderbilt University where her research focused on first year student retention at Nashville State, and she currently serves as the Dean of Retention & Engagement at Tulsa Community College overseeing the offices of Orientation, Testing, and Academic Advising. Kasandrea is passionate about increasing college access by leveraging emerging technology and social media to improve student success for underrepresented populations; particularly first generation, and former foster youth. Outside of her campus work she is the founder of HigherEdSocial, the world’s largest professional society for social media professionals in higher education, and enjoys collaborating with colleagues to help universities better leverage social media to increase their student retention and satisfaction. She has spoken at professional, higher ed, and technology conferences around the world and regularly presents on using technology in advising, generation z, and how to build an educational brand.
